Today we would like to talk about an extremely useful function of Skype for Business for those who constantly use the mobile app but aren’t always at their desk.
In order to use S4B on the phone, you can simply download the app from the store and log in with your login/password.
Once you’ve done that you can call, text and even start video conferences right from your mobile phone. But there are times that you answer a call at your work place on the desktop app but, for instance, you need to get to the other side of the building for a meeting. It would be great if you could keep talking on the go without interrupting the conversation (because it’s definitely your boss or a client calling at a moment like that).
How do you do this? There is a button in the call window
Press the ‘Redirect’ button and… this is when it gets confusing.
The thing is your mobile phone app is not on this list so you can only redirect the call to your phone number. In that case the call will go through your mobile network operator, not through the Internet, which could cost you money. What’s more, it will be a regular call, not a Skype call, so you won’t be able to use all the features, e.g. add a video. That’s why we want to transfer the call to the Skype for Business app on your smartphone.
Based on our experience, the most convenient way to transfer a call is a lifehack of sorts:
Find yourself in the list of contacts:
Click ‘transfer’. That way the call goes to your mobile app; you’re basically calling yourself:
After you answer it first connects with you, then your image switches to the image of the other party, and the call on your desktop ends.
Now you can continue the conversation on the go! By the way, the person on the other end won’t even notice these reconnections.
